Treasures Yi Dian Xin rings a bell. And the first thing that comes to my mind is one of the famous dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong. The dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong is One Dim Sum. I’ve decided to give Treasures Yi Dian Xin a try looking the menu with wide varieties from congee, canton noodle, roasted meat, vermicelli rice roll, rice dumpling, dessert and not forgetting DIM SUM. Plus there are over 80 items to order from! High ceiling, bright lighting and helpful staffs that makes dining more enjoyable.
The first dim sum dish that I would order is steamed salted egg yolk black custard bun at S$3.80*. These cute little black buns with the golden stripe, not only adorable, but also delicious. The hot salted egg yolk lava is a big bonus! Though there is not much lava, it’s the quality that counts. Every sips of salted egg yolk is authentic and flavourful!
When it comes to carrot cake, I would hesitate to order. As it is a turn-off to receive a plate of “flour” only. I’m glad that I have ordered this dim sum. Traditional carrot cake, pan fried on the outer, with many radish bites and few dried shrimps. It is yummy and addictive! Pan fried carrot cake at S$3.20*.
Steamed rice roll with roast duck at S$8* (top picture). Steamed rice roll with beef brisket at S$7.80* (bottom picture). Both are steamed rice rolls but tasted different. Steamed rice roll with roast duck is smooth and soft whereas the rice roll with beef brisket is thick. So it’s dependant on your taste bud on the types of rice rolls that you prefer. Needlessness to say, the amount of beef brisket is a lot more generous than the few mini roasted duck pieces.
Bite size steamed prawn dumpling also known as Ha Gau at S$4.80*. The meat and prawn filling is sweet and prettily wrapped.
Century egg with fish slices porridge at S$9*, barely few fish slices spotted. Porridge was simple and light. That made me miss one of the congee houses in Hong Kong.
Don’t forget to order a plate of poached Hong Kong kai lan at S$6* (promotion price). It’s always good to have a plate of vegetable on every meal 🙂
Simply love dessert after a meal. Jelly with plenty of osmanthus and wolfberry at S$2.40*.
Mochi with real mango custard dessert at S$3.60*.
I have always enjoy dining in Chinese restaurant as hot tea are topped promptly. Though it is disappointing that the small table couldn’t fit in all the dishes. And the table is almost full after four dim sum dishes were served. However it doesn’t stop me from dim sum-ing. Three dim sum dishes that I would recommend to order from Treasures Yi Dian Xin are steamed salted egg yolk black custard bun, pan fried carrot cake and osmanthus jelly. Happy Dim Sum-ing everyone!
