Enjoy Eating House & Bar 01
Enjoy Eating House and Bar opens a new flagship outlet at Hotel Mercure on Stevens.  Similar to their Kam Leng Hotel outlet, diners at the Stevens outlet will spot the familiar “blast back to the past” experience – think: old school decor with unique visual touches such as the menu that looks like a chinese calendar.

The new outlet also has a seating capacity of up to 60 pax to accommodate more patrons.

For appetisers, we tried the Hainanese Chicken Satay (S$10) – five skewers of succulent grilled chicken were served with a pineapple and peanut dipping sauce.  Perhaps we have had a tad too much satays recently, whilst this dish was tasty, it was not something that stood out for us.

Instead, Chef Joel’s XO White Fish Soup (S$10) – a white, collagen-rich fish soup cooked for six to eight hours, was more delectable.  Fresh thick slices of fish was served with hearty soup although the XO taste was very subtle.

We introduce Grandma’s Te Kah Bee Hoon (S$14 for small, S$34 for large) to you.  A secret recipe passed down from Chef Joel’s grandma, wok-fried rice vermicelli is served with tender braised pig trotter.  Don’t be deceived by the supposedly saucy main – the bee hoon retains the wok hei and is flavourful.

Another signature dish we tried was the Singapore Style Chilli Prawns (S$22) and their fried mantous.  Instead of crabs, fresh prawns are cooked in the sweet, spicy and eggy sauce – perfect for dipping / dunking those mantous in.  Best part of the dish is the fact that the prawns are deskilled (well, save for the prawn heads that are easily removed).

We rounded the meal off with the Popiah Garden (S$14).  Three scoops of gelato – Blue Pea Lemongrass, Sea Salt Horlicks and Soursop on popiah skin, with shaved peanut candy and coriander.  The three flavours complemented each other well, the blue pea lemongrass had fragrant and subtle notes, the sea salt horlicks for those who love something more creamy and rich with finishing salty aftertaste and the soursop a refreshing palate cleanser.

Definitely recommend checking Enjoy Eating House & Bar and it is best to visit in a group so you can try more dishes!  Alternatively, Enjoy Eating House also does islandwide delivery (for both outlets) and there is free delivery for orders over S$120.  Orders can be placed via Whatsapp (8511 1478 for Stevens and 9299 1601 for Jalan Besar) to either of their outlets.

There is also a promotion for the Enjoy merchandise – customers can bring home an item of their choice with just a top up of $5 with any drinks purchase.

Budget per person: $20 to $30 per person
