Brasserie Astoria opened in the second half of this year, marking the Frantzén Group’s second foray into Singapore since its three-Michelin-star restaurant Zén.  Brasserie Astoria is set to bring back the spirit of grand dining halls to Singapore with flambé trolleys, table side service and Chef Frantzén’s spin on classic brasserie fare.

In November, Brasserie Astoria introduced Astoria’s Golden Hour – an exclusive afternoon affair offered from 3pm to 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays.  It is a time for indulgence, where diners can savour a refined selection of rotating dishes and small bites – all priced at $12++.

Brasserie Astoria has an elegant setting, complete with high ceiling and the warm lighting which makes diners feel comfortable and “at home”.

Our favourite dish from the 3 that we tried from the Golden Hour menu is the Smashed Burger.  Beef patties are nestled within the golden potato bun complemented by smoky cheddar cheese, zesty horseradish aioli and house-pickled onions.  You can also choose to add on crispy fries.

The Calamares fritos are perfectly fried and dusted with black pepper. Squeeze some lime then dip it into the accompanying galangal aioli. It is an excellent bar snack – or if you want a light bite to go with the golden hour beverages (yes, also at $12++ each!)

The last dish we had was the Margherita.  A simple pizza with tomato, basil and mozzarella.  The fresh basil added the herby aroma and slight hint of mint.  The pizza is on the flatter side so it is not too carb-heavy.

This promotion is a good way for diners to try Brasserie Astoria’s food at an affordable price.  Do take note however that the Golden Hour is only available to guests at the bar counter.  No fret though because the bar counter overlooks the action going on at the bar.

Budget per person: $20 to $30
