Amano 1
Amano, a cozy Italian restaurant situated in serene Bukit Timah along Namly Place serves well-executed thin-crust pizzas.

For appetisers, our pick were these sautéed tiger prawns in butter, garlic and chilli.  The prawns were fresh and the combination of spices make it hard to go wrong with.

We also tried the classic dreamless carbonara made with bacon, pecorino cheese and egg yolk.  However, we felt that this pasta could do with more heat and seasoning as it tasted fairly bland.

Next up, we had the Burrata Cheese Pizza – fresh burrata cheese, sweet tomatoes and a drizzle of basil pesto.  Simple ingredients but the flavours were amazing.  Served hot from the wood-fired oven, we wolfed down these slices of pizza and even helped ourselves to seconds.

Just look at how thin the crust is!  The slightly crispy exterior and thin doughy insides were an excellent base for the delectable toppings.  You can also try the seafood pizza and truffle mushroom pizza.  The latter is a must-try for mushroom / truffle lovers.

Amano is currently offering a takeaway menu for gatherings this festive season.  We enjoyed the Cajun Spiced Chicken served with smashed baby potatoes and roasted cherry tomatoes.  The chicken was tender and juicy when served.

They also offer a beef wellington (approximately 800g), an english puff pastry pie made of fillet steak, wrapped with parma ham and coated mushroom duxelle before baking in the oven.  The portion is good to share among 4 to 6 persons.

Although Amano might be slightly out of the way for those who do not drive (given that the nearest MRT stations – Tan Kah Kee and Sixth Avenue – are about 15 minutes walk away), it might just be the place for those looking for a cosy pizza joint.
