The current buffet scene at Oscar’s is unlike to pre-covid. It might be a blessing in disguise! This is like a sit down dinner where we place order and food is served right to our table.
We got really excited looking at the intensive menu. The line-up of dessert includes D24 durian puff, creme brûlée, pandan kopi ‘o’ tiramisu, ice cream and more. I knew I had to order D24 durian puffs the moment my eyes set on the desserts section. Definitely, not for sharing! Glad that the puffs are light and crisp!

DurianBB has finally opened its new concept store in Singapore and has a total of 56 points of sales across Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Macau and now Singapore! Its aim is to reach out to durians lovers internationally! For something more traditional, you could select their durian egg tart that contains durian flesh as well. I love how the crust was flaky and it makes pretty good snacks for tea.

It may not be unfamiliar to some of you as The Blue Ginger is featured in Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient for the past three years. You can expect a classy and modern space while preserving the traditional Peranakan cuisine at The Blue Ginger Great World City. Rejoice to durian lovers as you get this big scoop of D24 durian puree on your chendol. Pandan-flavoured jelly strips, homemade red bean paste are set on a bed of finely-shaved ice with full-bodied palm sugar syrup. The chendol may be too sweet to taste on it’s own. Because of that, I would recommend that you to mix it well.

99 Old Trees has launched SukaWa, a first-of-its-kind ‘omakase’ style durian experience within its premise located walking distance from Farrer Park MRT station. 6 variants will be presented and served based on the availability and quality, from out of the 12 variants of durians on rotational basics. We were served in 3s, starting from the ones lighter in taste – D1, D13, Red Prawn. A palate cleanser of hot tea is served before another 3 – Golden Phoenix, D24 and lastly Mao Shan Wang. Feel free to ask any questions regarding durian and durian experts would gladly share with you all his knowledge. Besides that, there will also be unlimited additional portions of either Mao Shan Wang or D24 durian until the end of the session. The Quarters Bistro and Grill is helmed by chef-owner Deming who is emphatic about local spices and ingredients. Applauded by the local media, he has made a name for himself with his “Duriancanboleh”, his popular Durian Creme Brulee which I had tasted. Chef-owner Deming’s highly raved ‘’Duriancanboleh’’ which I had been anticipating all along. Torched in front of us, the sugar had beautifully formed a layer of caramelized crust on the surface. Cracking it up revealed the creamy like the texture of the Creme Brulee with the mild taste of durian.

Are you ready to uncover what’s hidden behind the glass fridge door? The Dragon Chamber, a speakeasy bar and restaurant with a public 45-seater, private dining area, and even VVIP area. The fried durian fillings are smooth but tasted pretty light on the taste buds. Pssst, the little orange poppings are not ikura. They tasted like dessert jelly.
