Paradise Pizza shares the same space as Elixir Coffee and Wine at 24 Holland Grove Road – a quiet residential area a stone throw away from Henry Park Primary School.  With both concepts under one roof, diners can indulge in artisanal pizza and enjoy some great coffee and wine at the same time.

We started off with the Deep Fried Burrata ($24) and it is a unique take on the usual soft creamy burrata that is served at most Italian places.  Here, there is a breadcrumb exterior for some crunch, served alongside some arugula salad and tomato sauce.

Split it open and you get a creamy ball of cheese and balls of sour balsamic vinegar to cut through the richness of the cheese.  Thumbs up.

Onto the mains, we had the Bismarck Blanc ($26) – a white sauce base pizza with flor di latte, parma ham and a sous vide egg.

The creaminess of the egg complemented the salty bits of cheese and parma ham, definitely an umami slice of pizza.  The sourdough base is not too tangy and despite being out for a while, the crust still remains soft and slightly chewy.

Don’t sleep on the pasta there, especially if you are a mentaiko lover.  We ordered the Mentaiko Lemon Butter pasta ($22) which has curly mafaldine tossed in a lemon butter, mentaiko and tobiko sauce.  The addition of lemon helps to make this dish less heavy, but we do recommend sharing it anyway unless you really love your mentaiko.

We ended off with their Darn Good Tiramisu ($14) which we were told by the staff is their signature dessert, made with Blacklist espresso.  The tiramisu is on the creamy side and we would have liked it better if there was more sponge.

Overall, it is a good spot to hang out with friends over solid pizzas and a glass of wine or two.  The waitstaff is also very friendly and approachable, so plus points for that!

Budget: $20 to $30
