NY Char Grill is a new concept – a fuss-free farm-to-table barbecue place in a modern barn house setting.  What stood out for us was the affordable lunch sets and a varied selection of ala carte sides and mains plus a barbecue dining experience.

Every table will have a smoke meter showing the selection of wood (apple, cherry, hickory, pecan and mesquite) and how each wood pair with the different meats (beef, chicken, fish, vegetables etc.) so diners can choose the preferred wood based on what they meats / vegetables they will be having for the day.

NY Chargrill prize themselves on serving fine meat.  Hence, we were rather surprised at the price point for the sets.  We had the Trio Set Premium (Skirt + Prime Ribs + Beef Brisket) and the Pork Set Premium (Pork Belly + Iberico Pork Jowl).

The ala carte options allow you to choose your preferred meat, cut and weightage.  However, the lunch set that we had is value for money.  The portion for beef is quite generous and is priced at $16.90 for 150g.
NY Char Grill 04
The weightage for pork is slightly smaller at 100g ($13.90), but the meats are a little fattier.  You can choose to have the 200g or 300g portions if you prefer having more meat.

Place the meat on the grill and hear them sizzle!  Ready in a flash and the good part about it is that the smell does not get all over your clothes so you do not have to worry about smelling like BBQ after a meal there.

Each set meal includes a choice of two items from a selection of soup, rice or sides.  As an added treat, you can also enjoy a delightful selection of complimentary unlimited appetisers with any order – korean banchan style!  The kimchi is refreshing and a good complement to the heavier flavours of the meats.
NY Char Grill 07
A side that we enjoyed is this kimchi mac and cheese ($5 ala carte, available as a choice with the chargrill set).  It would have been better if the kimchi is infused into the mac and cheese but since it is not, we added more kimchi to it to give it a more pronounced flavour.
NY Char Grill 08
Another a la carte side is this tempura young corn ($12), golden baby corn strips with a breading of tempura batter and deep fried; we love the touch of paprika that gives it extra savouriness.
NY Char Grill 09
If you’re not feeling for BBQ, the beef bolognese rigatoni ($15) is a popular option – thick rigatoni is held together with a rich beef and tomato sauce.

With set meals that start from $10.90 (plus unlimited appetisers and two free sides), not only are they value-for-money, you get to dine in a beautiful space with a view of the vortex rain.  It is tucked along the row of shops on the third floor of Jewel and is open daily from 11AM to 10.30PM.

Budget per person: $20 to $30
