Valentine’s day is coming soon, on 14 February. Have you made any plans for the special one? The special who stayed by your side no matter what you’re going through. Valentine’s day will always be reminded of how loved and appreciative of each other. Eat a lot and celebrate this Valentine’s day with the one you love the most. Nothing feels better than being surrounded by your loved one.

Lawry’s The Prime Rib

Enjoy a luxurious sweet 6-course dinner menu crafted for this Valentine’s day at Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore. Kick start the meal with Amuse Bouche, followed by a warm Lobster Bisque and Dungeness Crab Salad. Cleanse your palate with Yuzu Sorbet with Mint before moving to the Signature Roasted USDA Prime Rib of Beef or Seafood Love Platter. Sweet dessert after any meal of Te Amo.

Amuse Bouche consists of Foie Gras Macaron with Almond and Chocolate Soil Grilled Spanish Octopus with Mango Salsa on Water Biscuit and Guacamole Smoked Salmon on Toast with Avruga Caviar, Truffle Mayonnaise, caramelized Onion and Yellow Frisee. Start off with savoury foie gras macarons set on a bed of chocolate soil, generous thick cream and smooth texture. Smoked salmon with poppings of caviar on crisp toast. With a presence of a hint of truffle mayo set on caramelised onion. Tender grilled octopus with refreshing mango salsa to refresh the palate before having the soup.

Lobster Bisque served with Hokkaido Scallop, Herb Croutons, Chives bits and a drizzle of Grand Marnier. Extremely savoury, rich and flavourful lobster taste in a thick texture. Scallops are soft to bite with contrast crisp herb croutons.

Dungeness Crab Salad accompanied with Granny Smith Apple slice, Ikura, Mango sphere, Balsamic reduction and Tortilla Chip. Crab salad that comes with layers of taste. Received a surprise popping of mango sphere that flowed like egg yolk lava. Sweet and savoury crab meat, refreshing Granny slice apple with poppings of sweet ikura. You may also scoop crab meat with crispy tortilla chips.

Seafood Love Platter Baked Cajun Lobster Tail with Tobiko, Miso Salmon steak with Furikake, Carabinero Prawn with Arbequina, Corn Croquette and Ratatouille served with Teriyaki Nameko Mushroom sauce. Lobster tail with tobiko savoury juice and beautifully styled with floral petals and greens. Full done firm salmon with sweet sauce that tasted similar to cha siew. I would prefer medium salmon with a slightly pink texture. Crispy Corn croquettes were smooth and light and corn bites that burst into the mouth.

180grams Roasted USDA Prime Rib of Beef is carved at your table and served with US Idaho mashed Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding, whipped cream horseradish (spicy/non-spicy) with a choice of creamed Corn, creamed Spinach or buttered Peas. Simply love the very juicy sweet juice from medium rare steak. I can simply sliced through effortlessly.

Sweet dessert after any meal with Manjari Chocolate, Banana and Hazelnut Praline Mousse Dome, Häagen-Dazs Tiramisu Mochi Ice-cream on a bed of Almond Crumble and Strawberry Mousse served with fresh Summer Berries and Raspberry Coulis.

The 6-course Valentine’s day dinner menu is available on 14 February at S$188 per person.

Subrosa Private Dining

Looking for a private dining restaurant to spend this special day with your loved one? Subrosa offers a perfect amalgamation of East and West and an exclusive farm-to-table fine dining experience right along Jalan Besar. Enjoy five-course/ seven-course dinner based on the season’s freshest produce in a cosy ambience this Valentine’s!

Savour Fresh is Best with cured scallop served with fermented melon, pickled melon, dill oil & caviar. Thinly sliced and overlapping slices of scallops with fragrance from the various herbs, flowers and chef’s special pickled melon. Also, comes with a hint of spiciness from this dish!

Golden Duck served with sous vide duck & foie gras with carrot cream, chutney and pickled blackberries. One of my favourite main courses for this Valentine’s menu. Extremely tender meat with no gamey taste or smell. So much love for this that I hope for a second serving!

Remember Mee with lobster, lard, bee hoon, beansprout, chive and broth. The first grasp of smell is activated upon serving Remember Mee, simply smells so good! Tender and savoury sweet lobster meat with crunch from the vegetables. The noodles have well-absorbed the goodness of the thick broth.

Beautifully plated Tropical Passion with mango & lime sorbet served with coconut pudding.

Prices start from S$108++ for the five-course menu, and S$148++ for the seven-course menu.

Tipsy Penguin

Spending Valentine’s day doesn’t have to break a hole in the pocket! Celebrate this Valentine with 4-course Asian-Fusion dishes at this modern bistro bar with a live band at night.

Baked Oyster Chowder in shell with Tobiko. Mild oyster is baked bread crumbs and topped with tobiko.

Maine Lobster Risotto (+S$7) is served with whole lobster and risotto coated in savoury sauce. The lobster was decently fresh and crunchy.

Planning for your girlfriend/ boyfriend who’s on diet? Baked Salmon En Papillote with refreshing Orange and Dill and Truffle Mash is hard to go wrong. However, I would crave for more truffle for truffle mash.

Lemon Meringue Tart Served with Chocolate Pebbles. I would suggest eating lemon meringue tart together with the chocolate pebbles. It may be too sourish if you eat it on its own.

A 4-course menu at S$35 per pax.
