Media Tasting at UYKD (Un-Yang-Kor-Dai)
UYKD, opened for about 6 months at the buzzing city offering authentic Thai Isaan food. North Issan Thai food flavour is stronger and more towards sourish and spicy. I’ve also noticed that they offer dishes that are not commonly found in Singapore.
One of the most unforgettable dishes, Leng Zaab that made me go WOW! This Issan spicy sour pork broth comes with delicious chunky prime and back ribs with rice wine added and flamed before served. You may also customise the spicy level. Do take their spicy level seriously, it is very spicy.
Leng Zaab (700g, 2-3 persons) starting from S$28.
Chunky juicy slices of well-marinated meat (chicken & pork) and crunchy giant prawn on thin bamboo skewers. The meat and prawn tasted as good as it is, no sauce required for me! I can’t seem to stop at one skewer, what kind of sorcery is this? :p
UYKD Grilled Platter at S$28.50.
Smoky grilled chicken with black pepper spiciness and served on banana leaf. The chicken marination not only penetrates and also tenderise meat.
PenLaos Signature Grilled Chicken Whole at S$21 and Half at S$12.
Something to get your protein and fibre fixed with spicy grilled beef ribeye salad. The beef is thinly sliced and tender. It’s refreshing to eat it with the assorted raw vegetables including long beans, cucumber and tomatoes.
Spicy Grilled Beef Ribeye Salad at S$17.
I’m delighted when I saw deboned fish! It’s so much convenient to eat and I don’t have to worry that I might choke on the bones. The fish meat is carefully diced and deep-fried while remain moist inside. It is enhanced with Thai herbs and a side of spicy seafood sauce. This spicy seafood sauce is very very very spicy, not for the faint like me.
Deep-Fried Whole Sea Bass (1kg) at S$45.
I love their big, fresh and crunchy prawns with bursting pomelo against the spicy dressing. That really brought me back to Thailand.
Spicy Pomelo Thai Salad with Fresh Prawns at S$17.90.
Wobbly test checked! It’s wobbly soft and has a strong taste of authentic Thai milk tea taste in every bite.
Thai Milk Tea Pudding at S$10.
