Shin Minori Japanese Buffet was located in UE Square. It was private and away from the busy town. The best part in Japanese Buffet is where you get to try many different types of Japanese dishes at one price. The foods that I’m looking forward to at a Japanese Buffet were free flow of Sashimi and Tempura Moriawase.
Tempura Moriawase.
Meatballs in Teriyaki sauce.
Kani Tempura. Overly salted, not recommended if you are one with light taste bud.
Kimchi Pork.
Grilled egg plant topped with diced octopus (tako).
Grilled bacon with asparagus.
Grilled lady fingers topped with diced octopus (tako).
Grilled mushroom topped with diced octopus (tako). Most of the grilled Japanese dishes are dry and cold upon served.
Stir fried bean sprouts.
Seasoned Baby Octopus Chuka IIdako.
Soft shell crab maki rolls.
Pumpkin Chawanmushi Egg Custard.
Assorted sushi.
Kani Miso Shiru (Cream of Crab Bean Paste Soup).
Sashimi Moriwase. Sword fish slices with a bad fishy smell and taste. Salmon is still the best!
Sashimi salad with sesame.
Sliced sashimi.
It was convenient to order via tablet. I wish they have a system for their reservation list.
I was lured to the 1 for 1 promotion at Shin Minori Japanese Buffet few months back. Our first visit was made on our second reservation. Why was the second reservation on the first visit? The story goes like this. We have made the first reservation and made a call on the actual day to confirm reservation. Feeling puzzled, it was noted that there was no reservation made. And the staff had offered to make the second reservation on the following week. 1 day before our second reservation, we have called to confirm our reservation. It was confirmed by one of the staffs. On the second reservation, we arrived and a long queue awaits at the entrance. Almost 100% of the queue are on reservation. The queue was badly managed, we have waited for 40 minutes at the queue although there was a reservation made. Upon entering at the cashier, the staff checked and couldn’t locate our reservation. We told him politely that our reservation was verified by one of the staffs as we have made the call the day before. The staff at the cashier even commented rudely in chinese. “Everyone said got reservation, do you really have reservation.” Similarly, the “same” service was made to the rest of the customers. This was one of the worst service where I have encountered in a Japanese Restaurant. The reservation list were paper written in a book. Messy and difficult to track for customer’s reservation. We were given only 2 hours however 45 minutes had passed. Before we even sat on our seats, our moods were already dampened. Lesson learnt. Not all 1 for 1 is a steal. The Japanese Buffet was pretty much average. Moreover drinks are not included in this Japanese Buffet.
