Media Tasting at Ootoya

Synonymous with traditional home-cooked food, you’ll be treated to a wide selection of nutritious, yummy food in a cosy environment at Ootoya.

I tried the following dishes as part of the recommended menu:

Ootoya-Grilled-Hokke

-Charcoal Grilled Atka Mackerel Hokke Fish

The Hokke fish was slightly charred on the outside but still retaining the moisture and tenderness inside. Simply lift the middle bone and tuck into the wonderfully grilled fish.

Ootoya-Oyako-Don

-Oyako Don

This unassuming main was a heartwarming dish. Rich runny egg and generous portions of charcoal grilled chicken were served atop fluffy steamed rice. This is truly a bowl of comfort food and I definitely recommend you to try this on your visit here!

Ootoya-Seiro-Soba

-Seiro Soba

The soba noodles at Ootoya are handmade daily using buckwheat flour imported from Hokkaido. The freshness of the noodles is evident through its springy bite. The soba sauce is also made with fresh bonito shavings and isn’t too salty, making this a good complement to the other dishes.

Ootoya-Maccha-Parfait

-Maccha Parfait

This matcha dessert was a perfect ending to the meal, a must-order for all green-tea fans. There are several layers to this dessert: creamy matcha ice-cream and matcha pudding, smooth green tea jelly, castella sponge cake and warabi mochi to add to the textures and finished with sweet azuki red beans.
