Say hello to a new building in CBD, IOI Central Boulevard Towers, which is situated just across Lau Pa Sat.  On level 7 of this building that links both Asia Square and One Raffles Quay is a Southern Italian restaurant and rooftop bar owned by Beppe De Vito of the ilLido Group.

The restaurant is spacious with an interior that combines warm colours and bold natural light to create a comfortable yet chic environment.  We visited on a Saturday afternoon to try their indulgent brunch menu priced at $58++ per person (minimum 4 diners).

We were served with warm focaccia to start and their staff will pour olive oil into your plate if you want more to dip your foccacia into.

The starters on the brunch menu include this truffle stracciatella and mortadella schiacciata.  Generous slices of mortadella are piled atop the truffle stracciatella and toast.  I do wish the toast was a little warmer and softer, but it is served crispy.

The crispy calamari with amalfi lemon is easy to snack on with some cocktails and would be gone in a jiffy if the batter was slightly lighter.

I quite like the aged parma ham with roasted figs because the savouriness of the ham compliments the sweet figs and bitter arugula.

My favourite starter has to be the BlueFin Tuna Tartare with Amalfi Lemon, Salmoriglio and Pantelleria Capers finished with finely chopped chives.  Yum.

We could choose from 4 available mains – 2 pastas and 2 meat / seafood options.  The first pasta is the Homemade Pappardelle with Cardoncelli Mushrooms and Tuna Bottarga.  The texture of the pappardelle is al dente and a dish for the carb lovers.

The other pasta is a simple tomato based pasta that is veggie-friendly – Fusillioni Pasta with San Marzano Tomatoes and Buffalo Mozzarella.

I thought the mains fared better than the pastas.  The Roasted Chicken Leg with Peppers and Leccino Olives had tender chicken and well-seasoned peppers.  The chicken is also of a sizeable portion.

The Grilled Red Snapper with Crab Bisque and Violetta Eggplant was quite unique and brought out the “flavours of the sea” with a lightly charred eggplant that soaked up the crab bisque.  I would pick this main out of the four.

To round up the meal, I recommend the Sospiri al Pistachio.  Angel cake puffs are stuffed with pistachio chantilly and finished with a pistachio glaze.

The Neapolitan Cheesecake was not what I expected as it is made of three layers – vanilla sponge cake at the bottom, raspberry in the middle and and a pile of limoncello cream right on top.  This is a dessert made for sharing as it gets a little one dimensional after a few bites.

The brunch menu at Sospiri is available every weekend, with an option to top up $48++ for free-flowing prosecco, wines, beer and soft drinks or $88++ for unlimited champagne, cocktails, wines, beer and soft drinks.

Budget: $58++ per person
