Media Tasting at PocoLoco Upper Thomson

With the simple goal of making quality Italian food affordable for Singaporeans, owner Keith Lee founded Poco Loco in 2015. Despite his first failed Italian F & B venture almost 20 years ago, that did not deter him from his dream, led by his passion.

Now with the current 2 locations at Novena & Upper Thomson, heartlanders can regularly enjoy Italian food without burning a hole in their pockets.

uni-tagliolini-pasta uni-tagliolini

For under S$20 each, you would be able to find two recipes of Uni Tagliolini, featuring fresh Hokkaido sea urchin lying atop fresh homemade pastas strands.

An option of tagliolini for a hot pasta dish served fresh from the pan, or the delicate capellini crowned with uni and Hokkaido scallops, served cold. I prefer the hot dish since I love my pasta drenched with savoury sauce.

mentaiko-tagliolini

For those who love a more dense creamy sauced pasta, go for the Mentaiko since the bowl of tagliolini had been doused generously with mentaiko chubu infused in cream sauce. This dish might be a little salty for me though.

beef-fettuccine

One of my favourite dishes was actually the Manzo, a serving of finely sliced beef and fettuccine pasta cooked with truffle mushrooms. The sliced beef was tender and the creamy sauce was so well infused with the truffle oil.

tomato-seafood-pasta

The Linguine di Mare alla Cartoccio, oven-Baked Mussels with Garlic, Butter and Cheese was one of the dishes from Poco Loco’s seasonal menu. Catered more for seafood lovers, its tomato based sauce had taken in the flavors of the seafood.

honey-glaze-pork-collar

Another item from the seasonal menu would be the Honey Glaze Pork Collar with Sautéed Portobello Mushrooms Served in Mash Potato. The pork collar was rather tender while I love the fluffy buttery mash.

The items from the seasonal menu are available at both outlets.

lava-cake

End your meal with Polo Loco’s desserts such as their Tiramisu or their oozy Lava Cake paired with vanilla ice cream. The desserts definitely did not disappoint me!

Diners can enjoy 30% off main courses between 3-5pm on weekends when they dine in at PocoLoco. This promotion runs from August to December 2020.
