Located along Craig Road, a street smack right between Outram Park and Tanjong Pagar lies a rather well concealed Pastaria Abate. With that rather catchy looking logo that reminded me of boarding schools, Pastaria Abate is specialised in a craft that is known to be rare in Singapore – Fresh Handmade Pasta . 

Its menu comprises of 16 appetisers and about 30 different pasta dishes which could be customized by selecting either the 100% Egg Pasta, Dried Pasta or the Fresh Specialty Pasta. It took me quite some time to finally select my pasta due to the wide range available.

Pasta Capesante (Linguine), under the category of ’White & Wine Sauce’ was perfectly al denta as, savoury with refreshing tanginess, sprinkled with lemon zest. I enjoyed the dish until I bit into the scallops. Sad to say all three scallops were too chewy and raw in the middle.

On the other hand, Porcini and White Truffles that falls under the cream sauce category had me raving quite a bit. The truffle scent was delightful as usual, lingering under my nose as the tagliatelle was mixed together with the bits of Italian porcini mushrooms. The cream sauce did not turn out to be as heavy as I expected it to be and I would not mind having this dish again.

Last but not least, our appetiser of Portobello Fried arrived. Each slices were deep fried, crispy yet wasn’t at all greasy. Pairs well with mayonnaise as having them alone would be a bit dry.
