Do you have any friend who has many requests on meal meetup? “Delicious, pocket friendly, many ingredients, air conditioning, unique and quality food, good service, easy to locate, best if got win food award.” It is almost 90% possible with A Noodle Story at Amoy StreetA Noodle Story by the Gen-Y hawkers is a popular stall at Amoy Street Food Centre. It is just a few minutes walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. And getting more fame as they have won a bib gourmand in the Michelin Guide 2016A Noodle Story uses fusion cooking style that is inspired by European techniques and Asian flavours. It is definitely unique and you don’t get to eat another similar bowl somewhere else. It is also pocket friendly as prices from S$5.90.

A bowl of chewy noodles tossed in a homemade special fragrant oil, tasty potato prawn dumpling, pork belly slices that melt in the mouth, HK style wontons, topped with freshly sliced scallions and red strands of Japanese red pepper. Not only that, it also comes with half onsen egg and a bowl of miso with mini tofu bites and seaweed. All these at S$5.90. My favourite choices at A Noodle Story Amoy Street are pork belly slices, potato prawn dumpling, HK style wontons and onsen egg. The ingredients win it all. Honestly, I’m dreaming of the pork belly slices and potato prawn dumpling while writing this blog post. Not a fan of noodle at A Noodle Story. I would prefer noodles that break upon first bite, it was over chewy. And chilli was pretty normal, not too spicy.

If you have noticed, it comes with 2 prices, S$5.90 and S$7.20. So what’s the difference? Both prices come with the same varieties. However if you want more ingredients for your bowl, get S$7.20. For example, a whole onsen egg, more slices of pork belly and an extra potato prawn dumpling. For small eater, get S$5.90 if you just wanna try a bit of everything.

Queue and dine like a Singaporean at hawker centre. Despite the endless long queue during weekday lunch crowd, Gen-Y hawkers really take pride in their cooking and presentation. So do expect an even longer waiting time for your lunch at Amoy Street Food Centre. Nevertheless, it is still one of the food gems to look out for. Till the next food gem at Amoy Street!
