Having been to the lobby at Artyzen Hotel several times, I was excited to find out that they are launching a relaxed space for guests to enjoy dishes from Quenino by Victor Liong in an a la carte format.

Villa Marie Lounge 01
The lounge is right across the restaurant on Level 4 of the hotel and functions as an extension to the restaurant.  Tastefully decorated, you can expect low seating, dim lighting and light snacks on the menu, perfect for intimate conversations and a place to unwind.

Since it was a Friday evening, this Caviar served with rice crackers, raita cream and chives was just the indulgence that we needed to end the long work week.
Villa Marie Lounge 03
Grab a cracker, add a touch of raita cream, some chives and onions and a generous spoonful of T’LUR Oscietra caviar.

The next snack is my favourite.  An luscious uni egg tart that is a treat to the eyes.  The tart has a twist to it with some sambal belado hidden below the silvers of uni giving it a little kick of spice.  Yum.
Villa Marie Lounge 05
This baby cucumber snack was refreshing, with lime leaf chilli crisp, finger lime and cashew cream.  The addition of cashew cream is great as the creamy and soft texture complements the crunchy cucumber.  It also has a round and naturally sweet flavour.

The green lip abalone with buah keluak and sweet potato was also excellent.  The earthy sweet potato and the juicy abalone goes well together with buah keluak to showcase our local flavours.

To add to their seafood offerings, the charred spanish mackerel is a sweet-savoury dish as it is served with seaweed tapenade and gula melaka soy.

The last of the savouries that we tried was the house made flat bread with chorizo XO, tiger prawns and lentil butter.  This reminded us of bread with hummus, inspired by Indian flavours and spices.  Smoky, slightly spicy and packed with umami, one serving of the flat bread is insufficient so we got an additional serving of the warm bread to mop up the goodness.
Villa Marie Lounge 09
Onto the sweets, my favourite has to be the sweet corn ice cream with caramelised milk, pandan jam and frozen coconut.  It sits atop this mochi-cake with crushed peanut bits, reminiscent of muah chee, which we are familiar with.

The white chocolate bonbons with pink peppercorn is a dessert for those who have a sweet tooth and a little more adventurous.  The pink peppercorn is quite subtle so fret not for those who do not really like peppercorn in their food.  Chef also added some strawberry and ginger flower so the bonbon has quite a bit to offer.

Overall, Villa Marie Lounge is a wonderful addition to Artyzen Hotel and allows guests to have a taste of the signature dishes from Quenino by Victor Liong in a relaxed space.

I look forward to dining at Quenino by Victor Leong to fully experience Chef’s Victor’s creations that focuses on showcasing the tapestry of Asian flavours.
