We started off with the ROYAL Kale Salad ($19.80), a superfood kale salad filled with plant-based meat, blueberries and peanut oil salad dressing.

The ROYAL Onion Gratin Soup ($7.80) is Royal Host’s signature consommé soup with caramelised onion, a slice of toasted baguette loaded with melty Gruyere cheese.

Fun fact – this is a long-standing bestseller of Royal Host as it shot to fame when Marilyn Monroe sang praises about it during her honeymoon to Japan in 1954.

As for the mains, the ROYAL Hamburg ($29.80) uses premium-quality beef.  It is seared at high temperature for a surface char whilst retaining the meat juices for a succulent and juicy texture blend.

It comes with three sauces – Brown Butter, Black Pepper or WA-FU Japanese sauce.  I like the Black Pepper sauce as it gives it the “Singapore” flavour and the rich pepper sauce adds depth of flavour to the thick hamburg steak.

The ROYAL Omurice with Demiglace Sauce ($26.80) is another popular main.  Fresh eggs are used to make the creamy omelette topped on fluffy Japanese ketchup rice.

The texture is on-point and there is a good egg to rice ratio.

Do not leave without trying their Hot Fudge Sundae.  Premium ingredients are used so you can expect fresh cream, quality chocolate, pecan nuts, digestive biscuits and proper chocolate glaze.  Sinful?  Yes.  Worth it?  Yes.
