How fast 2021 flew by, it’s barely a month to our favourite time of the year – Christmas!  This year, Da Paolo Gastronomia has a huge selection of festivities favourites for takeaway and delivery.

The centrepiece of every Christmas feast would be a succulent roast and Da Paolo delivers with its Double-stuffed Deboned Roast Turkey ($298 for approximately 3.5kg) featuring not just one, but two different stuffings.  On one side of the turkey you have a stuffing of Cotechino, a decadent Italian spiced sausage that is traditionally served only during Christmas time.

Made with pork meat, rind and lard, the sausage adds savouriness to the turkey and is encased with another layer of minced Cumberland pork sausage.  The other side is stuffed with French chestnuts, fresh mushrooms and braised leeks – think more earthy flavours – and this is our preferred stuffing for it goes very well with a generous drizzle of homemade apple gravy.  Each boneless turkey is good for 10 to 12 persons and this is one unique turkey.
Da Paolo also has a wide variety of prepared accompaniments to complement the roasts.  For instance, we had the Brussel Sprouts, Turnips and Cranberry Salad ($55 for a portion that is good for 4 to 6 people) – a refreshing, crunchy salad of finely shaved Brussel sprouts and turnips tossed with dried cranberries, olive oil, lemon juice and pepper.  Alternatively, you can choose the lighter cous cous salad ($39 a portion) consisting of sweet raisins, peppery rocket leaves, diced capsicum and sweet potatoes.
Sugar, spice and everything nice?  Da Paolo’s gingerbread cookies make for another table statement piece.  Their meticulously constructed Gingerbread House ($130) or the Stacked Gingerbread Christmas Tree ($79) are both good options. Alternatively, if you would like to have a try or share them in little goodie bags, you can get the Assorted Gingerbread cookies which are retailing at $6.
A dessert that you must not miss is the Italian Praline Wreath ($68, diameter 18cm).  A crunchy mix of cornflakes, rolled oats, almonds, coconut, pumpkin seeds and cranberries in a lavish blend of finely ground pistachios from Bronte and hazelnuts from Piedmont all held together by Belgian chocolate – this stunning wreath is simply addictive.  Get this if you have a party or the smaller version ($19.90, diameter 10cm) if you are gifting someone.
Da Paolo is also offering the Italian festive essential – panettone in 5 different flavours.  We tried one of their new flavours – dates, honey and almonds ($70 for 750g).  The other four flavours are: candied orange and chocolate chips; candied orange peel and raisins; chocolate chips and prosecco D.O.C.G cream.
