Media Tasting at Gu Ma Jia

Chinese New Year is significant and an important annual festival to the Chinese. It is defined on the first day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar. It’s also a day where family and friends gathered together for a good meal. At Gu Ma Jia, two Chinese New Year feasts namely ‘Peace’ and ‘Prosperity’ are available. Gu Ma focuses on quality of ingredients. They are handpicked and quality checked by Gu Ma herself. Something good to note at Gu Ma Jia that there is no MSG added and using less oil. It’s just like having an authentic home-cooked food at a Chinese eatery.

We can never miss having a steam fish for Chinese New Year dinner. Featuring steamed fish red grouper with soya sauce. As per Chinese tradition, we must eat fish on Chinese New Year so 年年有“鱼” (Nian Nian You Yu). It simply means prosperity in the new year.

And finally, my favourite dish among all – Ginseng Fortune Chicken. Double boiled chicken with premium ingredients such as scallops, sea cucumber and fish maw with ginseng and roasted pork made up a pleasant tasting stock. I love the genuine taste of ginseng in soup with a taste of herb.

And you cannot miss having a bowl of dessert for Chinese New Year feast so the entire year will be sweet. Featuring Longan Wolfberries Sea Bird Nest. Simply love the homemade longan jelly with sea bird nest that simply melts in the mouth. It also comes with a natural sweetness from the wolfberries.
