Brought my grandparents to @geylangclaypotrice for a family meal recently, and it turned out to be such a good choice. You know a place has done something right when everyone at the table, especially the older folks, leaves happy and full.

The Golden Pumpkin Porridge was the biggest surprise for me. It was incredibly smooth, naturally sweet from the pumpkin, and so comforting that we kept going back for more. Definitely a must-order.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without their signature charcoal-cooked claypot rice. We had the Signature Chicken Claypot Rice, and the rich, buttery marrow added so much flavour to every bite. The rice had that smoky aroma and those crispy bits at the bottom that make claypot rice so satisfying.

We also tried a few of their newer seafood dishes. The Baby Sotong in Superior Soy Sauce with Crispy Pork Lard was packed with wok hei, and the crispy pork lard made it dangerously addictive.

The Ginger & Scallion Frog Leg was tender and full of flavour too.

Another favourite was the Claypot Kai Lan with Prawn Paste and Pork Lard, which turned a simple vegetable dish into something everyone reached for.

The Soon Hock Braised in Claypot with Beancurd was fresh, delicate and perfect for sharing.

If you’re planning a family gathering and want somewhere that serves comforting classics with fresh seafood to match, this is one to keep in mind. It was definitely grandparent-approved, and I’d happily be back for another bowl of that Golden Pumpkin Porridge.
