Media Tasting at Puri Puri
Stepping in, you’re immediately surrounded by all sorts of lights. Yes, we meant lights, not food. All sorts of elegant and big lights hanging from the ceiling and adorning wooden tables and shelves. That kept us wonder whether we’ve entered the wrong shop.
Puri Puri is a hole-in-a-wall cafe offering Japanese rice bowls including Kaisen Bowls to Japanese Wagyu Bowls. Prices are kept affordable starting from S$8.90. Self-service for everything from ordering to collecting your food and drinks. You have to place the order at Puri Puri counter at level 1. Well, there’s another lights counter, you may also purchase any of the lights and pieces of furniture that you fancy. We’ve decided to dine at level 2 since level 1 is full. Once the order is ready, the pager device that we received will light up and vibrate. Collected our food and drinks from the dumbwaiter. I have to admit the dumbwaiter door is pretty heavy to lift.
We started our dinner with whole oyster with generous servings of ikura.
Grilled Japanese Wagyu Beef served on short-grain rice with salad, onsen egg with a choice of braised mushroom or pickles. This wagyu beef bowl also impacts the fragrance of scallions and sliced truffles. The slices of wagyu beef were very firm to bite, the egg was wobbly but the yolk was not runny. What we like is their short grain rice. It was slightly chewy and tasty from the juices from the wagyu beef and juicy mushroom.
Japanese Wagyu Truffle Bowl at S$27.90.
Kaisen bowl is a combination of marinated assorted seafood including salmon, mature, mekaijiko served on sushi rice. Well-accompanied by salad, Japanese cucumber, marinated seaweed and tobbiko.
Kaisen bowl at S$10.90.
There are so many things to explore while waiting for your food. If you’re a fan of taking OOTD, you will be extremely pleased and excited in every corner of Puri Puri. Almost every section is a photo spot.
We’ve spent most of our time on our OOTD in this lovely cafe.
This is level 1 at Puri Puri. As usual, get spammed with lots of unique lightings. And somehow, dining at Puri Puri is different from the rest of the cafes. I can expect to have a cuppa coffee with my girlfriend in the near future.
Puri Puri may be crowded and best to make a reservation before your visit at https://www.quandoo.sg/place/puri-puri-48464.
