Amidst all the hustle and bustle of this city, Fro Roll is a café located on a tranquil street along Potong Pasir. This place serves quirky ice cream roll desserts, something different from the usual spherical ones.
Fro Roll was opened a few months back by the former Channel 8’s Campus Superstar runner-up, Keely Wee. Incorporating her passion for baking with Geographical studies, Keely personally prepares most of the desserts to ensure consistency, quality, and freshness. The café offers 2 types of menu – the Extravaganza Menu (geographically-designed desserts) and the Back to Basics Menu (revamped traditional desserts).
A few desserts exhibit Keely’s interest for Geography, and this Volcano is the most popular one. Upon serving the dessert, liquid nitrogen is being poured into the “crater of the volcano” – very Instagram worthy! Encased in the thin Chocolate Volcano Shell lies a few Vanilla Ice Cream rolls, sitting atop a Raspberry Molten Lava Cake. It is also served with Maple Granola Crunch and Fudgy Brownie Chunks, adding some texture to the dessert. The Vanilla Ice Cream is not too rich, balancing out the overall sweetness. Not to forget, the Molten Lava Cake – it’s just too good.
This dessert is recommended for sharing between 2-3 pax.
Extravaganza Menu: Volcanic Avalanche at S$15.80.
Lying on the other end of the spectrum is this alternative that stimulates your taste buds. Lime & Calamansi Ice Cream Roll is served atop a butter-toasted hotdog bun, alongside a Lemon Meringue Pie Bar and an Almond Cookie. The generous amount of lemon glaze on this dessert leaves it refreshingly sour, while the Almond Cookie neutralizes the acidity. Doesn’t the style of this dessert sound familiar? Remember the ice cream that’s wrapped in a slice of bread, the one where we can get from the uncle riding the bicycle ice cream cart? Yes, that’s where Keely got the inspiration from. A unique twist to a traditional dessert, this is not to be missed!

Another popular choice on the menu, a taste that we are all familiar with – but better! Strawberry Ice Cream Roll alongside Strawberry Jello Cheesecake Bar and a Florentine Cookie, served with a waffle taco shell (upon request). A simple and lighter option, not too jelat or sweet even if you finish this on your own.
