Alter Ego would probably be one of the more unusual named dining place located in Esplanade Mall with a scenic view if you happened to love al fresco dining. You need not to visit a psychiatrist after that.

Along with the concept of health conscious by day and caving into sinful cravings by night, Alter Ego definitely hit the spot of every unconscious mind.

The first load of guilt that already showed no mercy were the Mexicano Taco Fries and the Pizza Fries. I personally preferred the pizza fries as the flavors were bolder. Both were drenched with loads of nacho cheese!

The Poke Kueh Pie Tee were looking rather harmless but once you start on one, more tend to follow. Not the usual kueh pie tee as this dish leans more towards Japanese.

One of the skewer dishes would be the Sichuan Mala Pork Belly that was rather tender and tasty. Could not exactly taste the mala though. I could not tell that the black looking pancake was actually the Baked Portobello Mushroom with cheese. Looking a bit too flat yet still bursting with the shroomish flavor and juices.

Another 2 skewer dishes that would make really good snack would be the Cheddar Corn Dog and the Southern Spiced Chicken. Both definitely need to be dipped into the sauces provided for more flavor.

Keeping the most sinful looking dish for the last would be the Legendary Rendang Grilled Cheese. The recipe used was actually passed down from head chef’s nenek! Really rich, buttery and slightly greasy toasted bread filled with cheese and rendang. A great way to maximize your guilty pleasure. Would love to have more of the achar!
