Media Tasting at Fullerton Hotel
Our local star Li NanXing, also known as Ah Ge (big brother) has collaborated with Fullerton Hotel Singapore to honour Mother’s Day this May.
As Ah Ge is of Peranakan decent, the 5 dishes featured were his late mother’s favourite recipes which taps on his Teochew-Peranakan roots. These exclusive dishes are highlighted as part of Town Restaurant Mother’s Day buffet special from 3 -19 May.
Starting from the Assam Fish head, it was a well loved dish not only among Ah Ge’s family but also by me. Fresh fish head in mildly spicy and tangy assam curry with loads of other vegetables added.
Next on my favourite list was Sotong Masak Hitam aka black ink sotong. Coated unglamously black by the sotong ink, the sotong were fresh and had a nice firm and slightly chewy texture.
Get the heat up with the Mala Chicken, well marinated chunks well marinated and glazed with a special blend of sweet dark soy sauce, oyster sauce and tomato sauce before being tossed with red peppercorn.
Yet another interesting seafood dish would be the Sambal Petai Prawns. Fresh prawn wok fried with petai, fermented prawn paste, dried shrimps, garlic, onions and chillies.
The last dish which was the Fried Tau Kwa with Leek appeared to be less popular as compared to the rest. A pretty rustic homely dish which mums might love.
Last but not least, there will also be Ah Ge’s take on the traditional Chinese White Fungus Dessert with gingko nuts, white fungus, barley and lotus seeds. Something lightly sweetened to end your meal with.
As mentioned, this ‘’Special Mother’s Day with Li Nanxing’’ at Town Restaurant will be available from 3 – 19 May 2019, 6.30PM to 10.30PM daily. To catch Li Nanxing in action whipping up one of his signature dishes, do make your reservation on Mother’s Day itself (12 May). All mums that night will receive a set of IZU skincare beauty products as well as Freedom Yoga S$30 class pass (while stock lasts).
Dinner buffet at S$59++ per adult and S$30++ per child from Sunday to Thursday.
10-11 May, Friday and Saturday at S$85++ per adult and S$43 per child.
12 May, Sunday at S$89++ per adult and S$44 per child.
To add on, for every paying adult guest to the dinner buffet, Fullerton Hotel Singapore will be donating S$8 nett to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
