Introduction to Alchemy Fibre™ Powder Blend for Rice (Alchemy Fibre™)

Rice plays a part in my daily diet. I’m sure most of us grew up with white rice. Think of chicken rice, fried rice, claypot rice, duck rice, porridge and many more. As a Singaporean, white rice is part of most meals. This familiarity with white rice has kept inside me for a long time. However, it is known that eating too much white rice is often associated with Type 2 Diabetes. Replacing white rice with brown rice is a straightforward alternative. Think of eating a plate of chicken brown rice. Brown rice has a nutty flavour of its own and not everyone can accept it. White rice is still our preferred choice. Glad that Alchemy Fibre™ Powder Blend for Rice is the solution to our beloved white rice. Alchemy Fibre™ is a patented blend of plant-based ingredients and a slowly digestible carb that is high in fibre and prebiotic. It is similar to brown wholegrain flour but looks just like plain white flour. By consuming Alchemy Fibre™, it slows down the digestion process and hence less glucose is released. Moreover, it helps to maintain healthy blood sugar levels, promotes gut health, better weight management, improves immunity as well as bone and heart health. What’s even better? Alchemy Fibre™ Powder Blend for Rice is vegan and also halal-certified.

As much as I didn’t want to betray my white rice upbringing, I ended up loving my white rice with Alchemy Fibre™. It can be easily incorporated into our favourite white carb staples, without changing the taste, colour and texture of food. Now, I can enjoy the taste of white carbs with the benefits of brown. Happy that I can improve the nutrition of my white rice, and make it healthier to continue while enjoying some of my favourite local food like chicken rice and fried rice. Alchemy Fibre™ has been proven to lower the glucose release of rice during the human clinical studies conducted by Alchemy Foods, the food tech start-up behind Alchemy Fibre™.

Here are some of the benefits of consuming Alchemy Fibre™.

1. Lowers glucose release levels

2. High in fibre and prebiotic

3. Made from 100% plant-based patented blend

I’ve also tried cooking white rice with Alchemy Fibre™ Powder Blend for Rice. This is how I make my white carbs more nutritious by adding one more step. Simple isn’t it?

  1. Rinse 1 cup of rice once with clean water and drain the water.
  2. Add more water to your rice.
  3. Add 1 heaped tablespoon of Alchemy Fibre™ and mix well.
  4. Cook the rice in the rice cooker.
  5. Let the rice rest after cooking for about 20 minutes with the lid on before serving.
  6. Sprinkle some sesame-herb seasoning to enhance the taste (optional).

By adding Alchemy Fibre™, it actually slows down the digestion of white rice, just like brown rice yet contains 3x more fibre than brown rice. There is no change in colour to my usual white rice. It is slightly less sweet in taste and has a slightly lighter texture after mixing with Alchemy Fibre™.

As part of their launch, Alchemy Foods will also be working with more than 15 restaurant partners to incorporate Alchemy Fibre™ to their menus offering healthier rice dishes. Moving forward, you can also expect Noodles, Dim Sum (paus, xiao long bao etc.) made with different blends of Alchemy Fibre™.
