Singapore’s annual largest pasar malam; Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2017 is back from 26 May 2017 to 24 June 2017. Expect over 1000 stalls around Joo Chiat Complex, Geylang Serai Market and also along Haig Road.
Besides the signature pasar malam food like Ramly burger as seen in Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2016, you can expect new food and experience this year! Anticipate new foods like Fried Milk, Giant Squid Takoyaki, Rainbow Icecream, Minion Pudding, Dragon Breath and local foods like Prawn Paste Chicken, Nasi Lemak, Prawn Vadai. And to my surprise, I have spotted Photo Booth, Air-conditioned Barbershop in the bazzar! It was exhausting but fruitful with my new findings in Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2017.
Combed the entire Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar in about 4 hours. Do set extra time if you wish to comb the entire bazzar. Pssst… Admission is free and open to public.
- Fried Milk
Probably the one and only Fried Milk in Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2017. The fragile milk bite is crispy on the outside, sweet, custardy milk-pudding on the inside. Prices from S$5 per 6 pieces and comes in 3 flavours;
- Original Flavour Fried Milk in Salted Caramel Sauce.
- Pandan Flavour Fried Milk with Coconut Flakes in Gula Melaka Sauce.
- Thai Milk Tea Flavour Fried Milk in Orange Infused Condensed Milk.

2. Prawn Paste Chicken
Deliciously flavoured, battered piece of prawn paste drumlet leaving pungent aroma on your fingers. And also not to miss old school nasi lemak with banana leaf; collaborative efforts with the famous Nam San Nasi Lemak & Otah. The texture of otah and the burnt banana leaf is so good; savoury with minimum spiciness. I had two and I’m getting more. That’s not all, I personally enjoy the Wolfberry Teh Tarik. Love the plump and juicy wolfberry bites in every mouthful.
You might have spotted the huge Prawn Paste Chicken poster at the opposite end of the bridge. However, it is nowhere to be seen after you have crossed the bridge. It’s challenging to locate this stall as Da Hai Shan stations together with “Happy Rollies”; Famous for rolled ice cream and watermelon dessert.
Nasi Lemak from S$5.50.
Prawn Paste Drumlets at S$8/ 6 pcs.
Wolfberry Teh Tarik from S$4.

3. Rolled Ice Cream
Honestly, I was little skeptical to try rolled ice cream due to past experiences in unknown stalls. However, I’m glad that I’ve tried Happy Rollies rolled ice cream in Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2017. It made me overcome those bad experiences of diluted and bland rolled ice cream. I like their sweet milk taste with oreo and matcha powder, drizzled with chocolate and topped mini marshmallow. You can also pick your favourite ingredients for your personalised rolled icecream. Don’t miss their newly launched Rainbow Icecream that comes in 8 flavours!
Rolled icecream at S$5.

4. Prawn Vadai
The donut looking prawn vadai is probably a gem in Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2017. Love the good taste and flavour in every piece. You can also spot one whole prawn in every vadai. Don’t be turn off by the long queue, it’s totally worth queuing! I’m wondering how do they earn when they’re selling at S$2 for 3 pieces!

5. Raclette cheese
The most eye-catching stall in Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2017. You can watch how they grill the cheese wheel and melts on baby potatoes and mini-hotdogs. I have ordered and was told to be back in 30 minutes time. Alright, I am kiasu and went back in 20 minutes. There were many raclette sets on the table. A little disappointment to receive harden cheese, cold and salty ingredients. It’ll probably taste better when it’s hot?
Raclette set at S$12.

6. Giant Squid Takoyaki
7. Giant Grilled Sea Prawns
8. Fried Banana in 6 Flavours from Pisang Keju
9. Rainbow bun aka Handsome Burger
10. Minion Pudding
11. Dragon Breath
12. Photo Booth
It is interesting to gather with your friends and family at the photo booth. There are several props for your photo shoot.
13. Wall Art
Somehow this stall reminds me of Bangkok where there were many vintage wall art.
14. Air-conditioned Barbershop
Are you as surprised as me? Or am I the only one surprised to see Air-conditioned Barbershop in Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2017.
There are too many food stalls and impossible to comb everything in a day. Best recommended to go with a big group of friends to share the calories and fun! I may be back to comb the rest of the stalls. Otherwise, look forward to Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2018.
