Media Tasting at Braseiro Restaurant
Set to be a casual dining destination at 333 Joo Chiat Road, Braseiro Restaurant is a humble, unpretentious French steakhouse in Singapore that opened in Singapore about 2 years ago. A pleasant surprise awaits all who go through the door; two storeys shophouse and an alfresco rooftop garden to chill out and have drinks with friends. I am not sure if you have noticed, but Braseiro Restaurant is not open for lunch on the weekdays. However they are open to cooking classes from 10AM to 1PM. You will be surprised to learn how easy is it to make lasagna and more.
Braseiro started from a simple menu; ribeye steak, UNLIMITED homemade fries and fresh salad at S$19.90. Braseiro Restaurant is ranked #4 of Top 10 Best Steak under S$30 in Singapore. This is awarded from Yahoo Lifestyle Awards 2016.
Browsing through the restaurant menu, there’s appetizers, meals & sides and also Chef’s special which comes in limited quantity. Can’t decide what to order with your friend or loved one? I would recommend to order the special combo for 2 pax at S$59.90+ per couple. It comes with a melted cheese fondue, 2 ribeye steak, UNLIMITED servings of homemade fries and fresh salad and ends with 1 dessert.
If you are someone who loves soft cheese, you’ll love this France melted cheese fondue (camembert). It has a milky and sweet taste with a nice chewy texture. Nothing works better than cheese and bread.
The ribeye is naturally sweet, smoky, mouth-watering and is grilled to medium rare. I was pretty surprised as the steak tasted so flavourful with no marination except salt and pepper. The founder, Alexandre, believes in good quality steak needs no seasoning; just a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
The homemade fries are made from fresh potato. They are handcut with skin-on, retaining fiber and nutrients. However, this fries is not the usual crispy fries that we usually had. It is soggy, similar to eating mash potato on the inside.
And for the dessert of the day; Chocolate lava cake with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. The warm chocolate lava cake is rich, moist and chocolaty. I would have enjoyed it more if there’s more lava.
I have been craving for poptail; especially in this hot weather. What’s even better? You get to personalise your poptail and they are made upon order. There are 5 liquors (tequila, triple sec, rum, vodka, gin) and 6 fruit sorbet (passion fruit, grapefruit, strawberry, lime, coco, pineapple) to choose from. You’re going to love creating these yummy flavours. What I have in the picture above; gin and strawberry. The irresistible fruity poptail is refreshing and icy.
