Media Tasting at Nuevo Cafe
Nuevo Cafe seems pretty hidden at the ground floor of an industrial looking building yet the place was pretty packed that day. Within the same compound as Nuevo Cafe would be a commercial kitchen equipment showroom for browsing.
With a nicely concised menu of various dishes, I would like to highlight that their meats were all being grilled by the Josper Grill. For those who might not know, the Josper Grill uses charcoal and can usually be found in high-end steakhouse or specialised restaurants. Imagine my excitement when I heard that.
Started off with the Potato Mochi, a lovely crisp outer texture with a chewy interior filled with camembert cheese and teriyaki glaze. A unique dish that whets my appetite for the mains. The Squid Kara Age with Tobikko Tartar was also yummy and wasn’t greasy at all.
I could not decide between the Kakuni Pork or Yakiniku Wagyu as both rice bowl won my heart over. Not forgetting the Mentaiko Carbonara was absolutely delish as well! All came with a beautiful onsen egg!
Another 2 mains which pose a difficult choice to pick between would be the Burnt Chicken and the Baked Salmon served with purple sweet potato mash. Both the salmon and chicken had their juices locked within and had a lovely smoky aroma thanks to the Josper Grill. Not forgetting the crisp skin!
Last but not least would be the Nuevo Breakfast and Croque Madame that falls under the brunches segment. Both work perfectly well for those who would love a hearty brunch especially when the Nuevo Breakfast comes with a load of different components! Shoutout to the Duchess potato which was crisp yet easily meltdown in one’s mouth!
